Mălăiești Fortress, Medieval citadel in Hunedoara County, Romania.
The Mălăiești Fortress features a circular stone enclosure with four polygonal towers and a central donjon measuring 11 meters in height.
The Sărăcin family, second most influential nobles in the Hațeg region, constructed this defensive stronghold during the early 14th century.
The fortress houses a collection of medieval artifacts including weapons, shields, armor sets, and the historical emblem of the Corvin family.
Visitors can reach the fortress through Ohaba de Sub Piatră or Sălașu de Sus, following a paved path that leads to the six-level structure.
The donjon's walls measure 1.50 meters thick and originally required a retractable ladder to access the western entrance for defensive purposes.
