Dendrologischer Park Bazoș, Nature reserve and arboretum in Bucovăț, Romania.
Dendrologischer Park Bazoș is a 60-hectare nature reserve and arboretum containing over 800 plant species from five continents. The vegetation is organized into distinct sections, including oak forests and specialized botanical zones.
An Austro-Hungarian diplomat in the United States founded the grounds between 1909 and 1914 using specimens from a renowned American arboretum. The collection was expanded over time and became a notable botanical location in the region.
The site functions as a learning space for botanical studies and holds the country's largest collection of American oaks and hickory trees. Visitors can observe how plant species from distant regions grow together in arranged sections.
The grounds lie approximately 20 kilometers southeast of Timișoara between two rivers and are accessible for nature observation and walking. The various zones allow visitors to move systematically through different plant regions.
The grounds contain an oak tree over 500 years old, among the oldest trees at the site. Separate zones showcase North American species and Asian flora, recreating different climate regions.
