Mănăstirea Călugăra

Mănăstirea Călugăra is a stone and brick structure located at the base of Rolului Rock, crowned by a distinctive Baroque tower. The building incorporates traditional Romanian Orthodox architectural features throughout its design and layout.

The monastery was established in 1858 and received official blessing in 1861. This founding reflected a period of religious growth and institutional development in the Banat region during the mid-19th century.

Within the monastery grounds stands a remarkable artistic feature - a sacred image carved directly into a beech tree that has remained exposed without bark covering for more than a century.
