Banca Națională Săsească din Brașov, Art Nouveau bank building in Council Square, Brașov, Romania
The National Bank of the Saxons occupies a rectangular structure with two floors, featuring a massive portal and an oval medallion on the main facade.
Architect Albert Schuller designed the bank in 1905 after returning from his studies in Munich, and the building was completed in 1908.
The facade incorporates Saxon language inscriptions that reflect traditional values of work and economy, representing the professional ethics of the local community.
The building underwent extensive restoration in 2019, with a budget of 17 million lei from local municipal funds to preserve its architectural elements.
Decorative deer antlers positioned at the corner of the building reference the previous Hirscher family house that stood at this location.
