Banca Națională Săsească din Brașov

The National Bank of the Saxons is a rectangular two-story banking structure marked by a massive portal and an oval medallion on its main facade. The building stands on Council Square with clear proportions and geometric organization of its surfaces.

Albert Schuller designed the building in 1905 after returning from studies in Munich, with completion in 1908. The project emerged during the modern period and reflects the architectural renewal influences of that era.

The facade displays inscriptions in the Saxon language that reflect traditional values of work and commerce. These texts convey the professional ethics of the local community in a visible way.

The building underwent comprehensive restoration in 2019 that carefully preserved its architectural elements. Visitors should view the facade details from different angles to fully appreciate the overall design.

Decorative deer antlers sit at the building corner, referencing the former Hirscher family house that once occupied this site. This sculptural reminder connects the new architecture to the local urban history of the location.
