St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Moscow, Anglican church in Presnensky District, Moscow, Russia
The church rises in Presnensky District as a brick structure with pointed Gothic arches, slender windows, and a tall tower. The facade combines motifs from England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland into a single Gothic Revival style.
Richard Knill Freeman designed the building, which was completed in 1884 and served as an Anglican place of worship. During the Soviet era, the music label Melodiya used the space as a recording studio.
The congregation gathers here for worship following English liturgical customs and draws visitors from many countries. Inside, the space follows Church of England liturgical habits and serves as a meeting point for English-speaking Christians in the capital.
The interior stands open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM, and visitors can walk through freely when no service is taking place. Sunday worship begins at 11 AM and is also streamed online.
This building is the only Anglican church in Moscow and one of just three in all of Russia. Queen Elizabeth II visited the site in 1994 during her state visit to the Russian capital.
