Большекрепинская, Historic sloboda in Rostov Oblast, Russia
Bolshekrepinskoye is a historic settlement in the Rodionovo-Nesvetaysky district of Rostov Oblast. It lies roughly 48 kilometers from Rostov-on-Don in the flat landscape of the southern steppe region.
The settlement was founded in 1777 by Ataman Platov and had roughly 4,700 inhabitants recorded in the 1897 census. This founding by a prominent Cossack leader established the foundation for the community's long-term development.
The settlement keeps its rural character through street names honoring notable Russian figures. These names are woven into daily life and help shape how locals experience their community.
The place is easily accessible by car from Rostov-on-Don and sits in a region with flat terrain. Keep in mind this is a small rural settlement, so plan accordingly for local conditions and services.
During World War II, the settlement was completely destroyed twice by occupying forces, yet residents rebuilt it both times. This resilience shows the determination of the local population to restore their community.
