Church of the Holy Mother of God, Bolshiye Saly

The Church of the Holy Mother of God is a neoclassical temple distinguished by three curved recesses on its northern, southern, and eastern facades instead of traditional covered porches. The brick structure displays classical proportions characteristic of its architectural period.

Construction began in 1860 at the initiative of local Armenian believers and the building was consecrated in 1867 by Catholicos George IV. Completion in the 19th century marked a significant moment for religious practice in the region.

The church functions as a gathering place for the Armenian community to observe religious services and celebrations following the Armenian Apostolic calendar. The layout with its distinctive curved recesses reflects the liturgical traditions particular to this denomination.
