Bohurcha, Historical locality in Simferopol, Ukraine.
Bohurcha, also known as Kamenka, is a historical locality near Simferopol in Crimea. The houses were arranged in rectangular rows and built from stone, wood, and clay.
The settlement was founded in the 18th century by migrants from Mainz, Wurzburg, and Prussian Poland. Over the following decades, it grew into a community of several hundred households.
Bohurcha was a German Catholic settlement where residents kept their own language, customs, and faith over generations. This sense of shared origin shaped the way people organized daily life and community gatherings.
The locality sits between two rivers in a rural setting and is best explored on foot. Arriving in the morning gives a clearer sense of the old village layout and the surrounding land.
The village had a range of craftspeople, including shoemakers, carpenters, tailors, and blacksmiths, who served communities beyond their own. This made Bohurcha a small but active trade hub for the surrounding rural area.
