Founded in 1996 by Armenian-Russian actor Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, the theater emerged as a new cultural institution in post-Soviet Moscow's performing arts landscape.

The theater maintains Samuel Beckett's Krapp's Last Tape as part of its permanent program, reflecting Dzhigarkhanyan's interest in experimental theater.
