Sahood Fort

Sahood Fort is a military fortress and palace in Al-Ahsa governorate built in the late seventeenth century by the Hijri calendar. The structure features double-layered mud brick walls connected by palm trunks and reinforced with earth and grit throughout its design.

The fort was constructed during the rule of the Bani Khaled tribe and served as a strategic military center for the region. Its design reflects the defensive methods and building practices common to the Arabian Peninsula during that era.

The fort displays traditional Arabian building methods with a rectangular prayer house inside featuring five pillars and a prayer niche. These elements show how religious life was woven into the daily function of this military stronghold.

The fort currently serves as barracks for the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces and requires special permission to visit. It is best to inquire in advance about access procedures since the site is an active military installation.

The entrance to the fort features a bent design with a square surveillance room built above the gate for monitoring. This layout includes cannon slots and a protective trench surrounding the perimeter as part of its defensive planning.
