Näsby Castle, 17th-century château in Täby Municipality, Sweden
Näsby Castle is a 17th-century château in Täby Municipality, north of Stockholm, Sweden. Designed in the Swedish Baroque style, it features a central building with symmetrical wings and today operates as a conference center with hotel and restaurant facilities.
The castle was designed in 1660 by Nicodemus Tessin the Elder and passed through the hands of several notable Swedish noble families over the centuries. A fire in 1897 destroyed much of the structure, and it was fully rebuilt between 1903 and 1904 to give it the form it has today.
The castle displays Swedish Baroque architectural styles that shape how visitors experience the grounds and buildings. The landscaped surroundings with their historical garden features frame the property and invite exploration on foot.
The castle is in Täby, north of Stockholm, and can be reached by car or public transport. Because the property is regularly used for private events and conferences, it is worth checking in advance whether the grounds are open to visitors on the day you plan to go.
Despite the fire of 1897, parts of the original 17th-century garden layout survived and can still be seen on the grounds today. This makes the property one of the few places in the region where traces of Swedish Baroque garden design from the era of the Swedish Empire are still visible.
