Villa Lagerkrantz, Protected residential building in Danderyd Municipality, Sweden
Villa Lagerkrantz is a protected residential building in Danderyd featuring thick brick walls roughly one meter wide with pronounced window recesses and a steep pitched roof. The structure is divided into two separate residential units, accommodating ten and eight rooms respectively.
Bank director Gustaf Lagerkrantz commissioned architect Elis Benckert to design and build the residence between 1905 and 1910. A dining room extension was added in 1923, following refined geometric principles in its design.
The villa reflects early 20th-century Swedish residential design, where thick masonry and deep window recesses created both visual depth and practical protection from harsh weather.
The property is clearly visible from the street and accessible for viewing from public areas. Visitors can observe all the architectural details of the facade and roofline without requiring special access.
The 1923 dining room extension was designed using golden ratio proportions and features coffered ceilings reaching 4.40 meters in height. This reveals how carefully later additions were integrated into the overall design of the house.
