Villa Ugglebo, Djursholm

Villa Ugglebo is a residential building in Djursholm with red vertical boards on its walls, green window frames, and brown tar-treated wooden shingles sitting on a base of natural quarried stone. It features a tower room and sits on a large plot of land with steep slopes running toward the south and southwest.

The building was commissioned in 1895 between Djursholms Aktiebolag and wine merchant John Högstedt, who ran a wine business on Birger Jarlsgatan. It was built during the period when Djursholm was becoming an affluent residential town for wealthy Stockholm families.

The tower room has triple-arched windows facing all four directions, showing the Nordic wooden building style that was common in Swedish houses during the late 1800s. These windows give the structure its distinctive character and make the tower a striking feature of the property.

The property sits on Slottsvägen 9 with steep slopes running toward the south and southwest that you will notice as you explore the grounds. It helps to take time walking around the large plot to see how the land shapes the building's position and views.

A weather vane shaped like a wolf head sits on top of the tower, decorated with the original owner's initials JH. The interior still keeps its original wood paneling and carved woodwork from when it was first built.
