Farsta strandbad is a sand beach and bathing site on the shore of lake Magelungen, in the Farsta strand neighborhood of Stockholm, with two wooden jetties and a grassy area next to the sand. A small kiosk, toilets, a volleyball court, a boules area, and an outdoor gym are all found close to the water.
The area around lake Magelungen has been used as a bathing spot by Farsta residents for many decades. Over the years, basic facilities were added to make the site more welcoming, turning a natural lakeshore into an organized public beach.
In summer, the grassy area next to the sand fills with people playing volleyball or boules, a game where players toss balls toward a small target. In winter, the frozen lake becomes a natural skating rink that locals return to year after year.
The beach is on Ekshäradsgatan and can be reached by public transport or by car, with a parking lot a short walk away near the nearby sports hall. There are no changing rooms on site, so it is best to arrive already dressed for swimming or plan accordingly.
Although the spot is only a short distance from central Stockholm, the lake setting and surrounding walking paths give it a feel far removed from the city. The shallow water near the shore is gentle enough for very young children to wade in without any worry.
