Farstahallen, Indoor sports venue in Farsta, Sweden
Farstahallen is a swimming and sports hall at Farstaängsvägen 3 in Farsta strand, Stockholm, built 1969–1975 to drawings by Gustaf Kaunitz's architectural office. The complex has one- and two-storey sections: a low cafeteria to the northwest, a recessed, projecting sports hall to the northeast, and a separate swimming hall to the southeast with outward-sloping facades and large upper-storey panels of black wood. The frame is concrete and steel, with facades of brick, wood panel and large glazed areas.
The facility first opened in 1975 and has served as an important venue for indoor competitions throughout the Stockholm region since then. It grew to become a key sports center for the local community over the following decades.
Farstahallen appeared as the restaurant and the sports hall "Tre Kronor" in the TV4 series Tre Kronor, so the building itself is familiar to Swedish television viewers. The complex also houses a serving area alongside the sports and swimming halls.
Farstahallen stands at Farstaängsvägen 3 in Farsta strand, southern Stockholm, and is owned by the City of Stockholm. The complex was rebuilt in 2011–2012, so parts of the premises may differ from older plans. The swimming hall and sports hall sit in separate volumes linked by a lower connecting building, with the entrance hall in the two-storey section.
Farstahallen appeared as a backdrop in the TV4 series Tre Kronor, where it stood in for a restaurant and for the sports hall called "Tre Kronor". The building was designed by Gustaf Kaunitz's architectural office and erected between 1969 and 1975.
