Tosc, Alpine peak in Triglav National Park, Slovenia.
Tosc is a limestone peak in Triglav National Park that rises 2,275 meters above sea level. The mountain features steep north-facing cliffs and gentler southern slopes that overlook the Voje Valley.
The first shelter at the mountain was built in 1895 to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of poet Valentin Vodnik's Triglav ascent. This early hut marked the start of organized mountaineering activity in the region.
Local communities maintain traditional mountaineering practices through organized group ascents and educational programs about Alpine flora and fauna.
Vodnikov dom mountain hut is the main base for climbers and offers accommodation for around 50 people with basic supplies available. Visitors should prepare for variable weather conditions, especially in colder months when snow and ice alter the terrain.
A narrow ravine on the east face transforms into an advanced winter climbing route when cold weather arrives. This seasonal shift makes the route a technically varied challenge for experienced mountaineers.
