Veľká Svišťovka

Veľká Svišťovka is a mountain peak in the High Tatras that rises to about 2,040 meters (6,690 feet). Its slopes feature a mix of rock formations and grass, creating a typical alpine landscape in this mountain range.

The summit has served as a natural reference point between different valleys of the Tatras for many centuries. This landmark helped travelers navigate through the mountain passes over time.

Local mountaineering groups maintain the network of marked trails leading to Veľká Svišťovka, preserving traditional Slovak high-altitude hiking routes.

The climb starts from Tatranska Lomnica, where a cable car can take you up to Skalnaté Pleso to shorten the initial ascent. From there, marked trails lead upward and hikers need proper alpine gear and experience for this exposed terrain.

From this summit, you can see multiple other Tatra peaks spread across the horizon in a single panoramic view. This makes it a special vantage point to understand how the different summits fit within the mountain range.
