Zobor Abbey, Benedictine monastery in Dražovce, Slovakia

The monastery stands below Zobor Hill near Nitra, featuring architectural elements typical of medieval religious structures in Central Europe.

The abbey received official recognition through royal charters issued in 1111 and 1113 during the reign of King Coloman of Hungary.

Saints Zoërardus and Benedict received their monastic training at Zobor, contributing to the spread of Christian teachings in medieval Slovakia.

The monastery site connects to hiking trails on Zobor Hill, allowing visitors to combine historical exploration with outdoor activities.

Emperor Joseph II ordered the suppression of the abbey in 1782, leading to significant changes in its function and eventual transfer to Camaldolese monks.
