Ko Sichang

Ko Sichang is an island in the Gulf of Thailand featuring hilly terrain and several beaches along its shore. The land rises from the water with sandy coves positioned between rocky coastlines.

The island attracted European vessels from the 17th century onward, especially Dutch and later British ships. A British diplomat gave it a European name that remains partly known today.

The village centers on fishing and the sea, with boats and nets visible in daily use throughout. The community's rhythm follows the patterns of local maritime work and coastal life.

The island is reachable by ferry from the mainland, with the crossing taking roughly forty-five minutes. Visitors should prepare for changing weather and wear sturdy footwear.

The island hosts a marine research facility that studies ocean life and displays local fish species. It offers a quiet place to learn about the underwater world of the region.
