Didim, Administrative district on Aegean coast in Aydin Province, Turkey.
Didim is an administrative district on the Aegean coast in Aydın Province, encompassing several coastal towns including Altınkum, Gümüşkum, and Sarıkum. The area features sandy beaches, sheltered bays, and a modern marina that serves as a hub for sailing activities.
The area was settled by Greeks in ancient times and later came under Ottoman rule. After a major earthquake in 1955, the region was rebuilt and eventually took the name Didim in 1991.
The district maintains sister city relationships with Laubach in Germany and Leros in Greece, promoting international cultural exchanges through various programs.
The marina operates year-round with plenty of mooring spots and on-site shops and restaurants. You can explore the coastline by car or spend time on the beaches, particularly from late spring through early fall.
The Mediterranean climate allows beach activities throughout the year, with winter temperatures averaging 14 degrees Celsius and summer temperatures reaching 34 degrees.
