Kayseri Erkilet Airport, airport
Kayseri Erkilet Airport is an aerodrome located about 5 kilometers north of Kayseri in Turkey. The simple terminal building serves mostly domestic flights with some international routes, featuring a runway capable of handling larger aircraft like the Boeing 747, though smaller jets such as the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 make up the majority of traffic.
The airport opened in 1998 and has served the region as a growing transportation hub since then. An international terminal was added in 2007, expanding capacity to handle approximately one million passengers annually.
The airport sits about 5 kilometers from the city center and is easily accessible by bus, taxi, or rental car. Buses run approximately every 20 minutes, and a parking lot accommodates visitors arriving by private vehicle.
The facility also operates as a military base shared with the Turkish Air Force, meaning military aircraft can be spotted alongside commercial planes. This dual-use role reflects its strategic importance to the region and adds variety to the air traffic seen here.
