Ayazma Mosque, Ottoman mosque in Üsküdar, Turkey
The Ayazma Mosque features a single-domed prayer hall with a minaret, positioned on a hillside overlooking the Bosphorus strait in Istanbul.
Sultan Mustafa III commissioned the construction of this mosque between 1757 and 1761 in memory of his mother, Mihrişah Kadın.
The interior displays Ottoman Baroque architectural elements, including stone decorations around the mihrab and minbar, representing 18th-century artistic developments.
The mosque reopened for public prayers in August 2022 following extensive restoration work and maintains regular prayer schedules.
Five arches form the portico entrance, accessed by a wide semi-circular staircase, while carved birdhouses adorn the exterior walls.
