Kazdağlı Mosque, Ottoman mosque in Safranbolu, Turkey

The Kazdağlı Mosque is an Islamic house of worship in Safranbolu with a central dome resting on stone walls. A single minaret with a balcony stands at the right side of the entrance and marks the building from outside.

The mosque was built in 1779 by Kazdağlı Mehmet Agha and stands at the entrance to Safranbolu's bazaar. It replaced an earlier religious structure at this important location in the town.

The mosque displays traditional Islamic design elements such as geometric patterns and calligraphy on its walls. Visitors can observe these details when entering the prayer hall and notice how the space is carefully arranged for communal prayer.

The building was restored and maintained under Foundation management beginning in 2004. Visitors should note that it functions as an active place of worship and should show appropriate respect.

The building combines stone and brick construction in an unusual way, with the middle section under the main dome and side areas featuring vaulted compartments. This mixed method is a hallmark of the 18th-century craft tradition.
