Siedove, Urban settlement in Novoazovsk Raion, Ukraine
Siedove is a settlement located on the Kriv Spit along the Azov Sea coast in Ukraine. The terrain is flat and sits at sea level, positioned approximately 7 kilometers from Novoazovsk.
The settlement was founded in 1750 under the name Krivaya Kosa and renamed in 1940 to honor polar explorer Georgy Yakovlevich Sedov. This change reflected the administrative shifts taking place during that period in Ukraine.
The settlement demonstrates the transition from Soviet administrative systems through its classification changes from urban-type settlement to regular settlement status.
The settlement has basic services and maintains a small population of roughly 2,569 residents. Visitors should be aware that this coastal area experiences varying weather conditions throughout the year.
The location bears the name of a notable polar explorer, whose legacy is preserved in this small coastal region. This connection to Arctic exploration gives the otherwise quiet settlement a layer of historical depth.
