Museum of folk architecture and way of life of Middle Naddnipryanschina, Open-air ethnographic museum in Pereiaslav, Ukraine.
The Museum of Folk Architecture and Way of Life of Middle Naddnipryanschina is an open-air museum in Pereiaslav, in Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine. The grounds hold around 70 wooden structures relocated from nearby villages, including homes, workshops, mills, and farm buildings arranged to reflect how settlements once looked.
The museum was founded in 1964 to gather buildings from the surrounding region at a time when many villages were being affected by modernization and river regulation projects. The collection grew steadily after its founding and became one of the larger open-air museums in Ukraine.
The site shows how people in the Middle Dnieper region organized their homes and work, with interiors that still contain tools, furniture, and everyday objects left in place. Walking from one building to the next gives a clear sense of how village life was structured around farming and craft.
The grounds cover a large area, so wearing comfortable shoes and setting aside at least half a day makes for a more enjoyable visit. Weekdays tend to be quieter than weekends, which can see larger groups moving through the site.
One of the buildings on the grounds houses a space exploration display inside a traditional wooden church, an unexpected pairing that draws curious visitors. This connection exists because Pereiaslav was home to Hryhoriy Nedilko, a pioneer in Ukrainian rocket research.
