Kherson International Airport, Civil and military airport in Kherson Oblast, Ukraine
Kherson International Airport is an out-of-service airport located in Chornobaivka village outside Kherson, Ukraine. The facility features concrete runways of varying lengths, terminal buildings, hangars, and military infrastructure that functioned as an air base.
The airport site was built during the Soviet era to serve both civilian and military flights. Russian forces captured it in early March 2022, and it suffered heavy damage during months of fighting until Ukrainian forces recaptured control in November.
The airport site is not open to public access and is not currently operating for regular flight traffic. The grounds are scattered with debris and military remnants, and structures show heavy damage from explosions, fire, and neglect.
The site preserves remnants of a modern Russian 48Y6-K1 Podlet-K1 radar system mounted on a truck chassis before being destroyed during combat. This artifact documents the military equipment deployed during occupation and now remains on the grounds.
