Henichesk Raion

Henichesk Raion is an administrative district in Kherson Oblast situated along the Sea of Azov coast. It contains several settlement communities and spans a large territory with maritime access.

The area began as a strategic fort location in 1784 and evolved through administrative changes over centuries. In 2020, several earlier districts merged to create the current administrative structure.

The communities here are home to Ukrainians, Russians, and Crimean Tatars, whose presence shapes the local character. In some villages, Tatar families have lived for generations and remain an important part of the social fabric.

The administrative center is located in Henichesk city and oversees regional matters. When visiting, keep in mind that the area is close to the coast and accessibility can vary depending on local conditions.

The Azov-Syvash Game Preserve administration is based here, protecting rare birds and wildlife in the region. Access to the Syvash Lake area offers visitors a chance to explore a distinct natural landscape.
