Sherwood, city in Arkansas, United States

Sherwood is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, covering just over 20 square miles with quiet neighborhoods, tree-lined streets, and parks for families. The landscape mixes older homes with new developments and includes more than 14 public parks, local shops, and recreational facilities that give the town its friendly character.

Sherwood grew from a small farming area called Sylvan Hills starting in the 1890s, becoming an official town on April 22, 1948, and gaining first-class city status in 1971. A turning point came in 1923 when the Koehler family brought piped water from nearby springs, attracting residents and laying the foundation for the town's development.

Sherwood brings neighbors together through seasonal festivals and community markets held throughout the year. The city's identity centers on local pride and family values, visible in how residents gather for parades and celebrations that mark the rhythm of life here.

Sherwood is accessible by car via Interstate 57 and U.S. Routes 67 and 167, which connect to the larger city of Little Rock nearby. The city is expanding bike paths and bus routes, giving visitors options to travel by car, bicycle, or public transportation depending on their needs.

Sherwood was formerly called Sylvan Hills and relied on North Little Rock for mail service until it got its own post office in the 1960s. This early separation shaped the town's distinct identity, making it an overlooked place with its own character separate from its larger neighboring cities.
