Batman – The Dark Knight, Floorless steel roller coaster at Six Flags New England, Massachusetts, US
Batman – The Dark Knight is a floorless steel coaster at Six Flags New England that climbs to 117.8 feet (36 meters) tall with five inversions spread across 2,600 feet (792 meters) of track. The trains feature seven cars each with no floor beneath riders, leaving their legs dangling in open air throughout the ride.
The coaster opened in April 2002 after construction began in the previous fall. Its arrival marked a major expansion for the park and helped draw new visitors to the site.
The ride's theming incorporates Batman and Gotham City elements throughout the station and entrance areas. Walking through these spaces creates a distinct mood separate from the rest of the park.
The ride uses over-the-shoulder safety harnesses that secure all riders, and loose items should be stored before boarding. Riders should familiarize themselves with operator instructions before the train departs.
The ride includes a 95-foot vertical loop and an 85-foot dive loop positioned back-to-back, creating intense acceleration changes. It reaches speeds near 55 mph while featuring two interlocking corkscrew sections that twist riders in opposite directions.
