West Fargo

West Fargo is a city in eastern North Dakota with wide streets, residential neighborhoods, and open green spaces throughout. The landscape shows a blend of older and newer buildings alongside agricultural surroundings.

The city grew from a railway stop called Sheyenne Crossing that the Northern Pacific Railway built in the 1800s. It developed first as a settlement named Haggartville before becoming West Fargo in 1926.

The city hosts annual gatherings like West Fest and the Big Iron Farm Show, where visitors can see agricultural technology and regional craft traditions on display. Many residents work in farming and manufacturing, which shapes how the community operates.

The city has a well-developed public school system with facilities spanning from early childhood programs through high school for all age groups. Streets are laid out clearly, making it easy to navigate even for first-time visitors.

West Fargo High School has a building trades class where students construct full houses from start to finish, which are then sold to buyers. This hands-on program connects classroom learning directly to real economic outcomes.
