The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is a public research university in Greensboro with academic buildings, research facilities, and recreational spaces across an extensive campus. The institution was founded in 1891 as a women's college and enrolled 223 students with 15 faculty members at that time. It became coeducational in 1963 and adopted its current name as part of the University of North Carolina system.
