SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge, Steel roller coaster at Nickelodeon Universe in Bloomington, United States.
Rock Bottom Plunge is a steel roller coaster at the Nickelodeon Universe amusement park in Bloomington. The course runs through a vertical chain lift, a loop, an overbanked turn, a rotation and a helix with turquoise rails and blue supports.
The roller coaster opened in March 2008 and replaced the former Mystery Mine installation in the shopping center. German manufacturer Gerstlauer built this Euro-Fighter model as part of the park expansion following the Nickelodeon takeover.
The attraction takes its name from an episode of the animated series and displays a sculpture showing two characters in an orange vehicle. Waiting guests see decoration elements that recall scenes from the television show.
Riders must be at least 122 cm (48 inches) tall and the coaster handles around 800 guests per hour. The entire course runs inside the building and reaches speeds up to 70 km/h (43.5 mph).
The drop angle measures 97 degrees and exceeds the vertical by 7 degrees. The two inversions and turns are completely housed in an enclosed space, so outside observers only see the waiting queue.
