Sovereign Center

Sovereign Center is a multipurpose arena in Reading, Pennsylvania, used today for sports, concerts, and other events. The facility spans multiple levels with club seating and luxury suites, alongside banquet halls designed for various functions.

The arena was built on the site of the former Astor Theater, a movie palace that operated until 1975. The location was later modernized to create a contemporary events center.

The building preserves elements from the former Astor Theater, including an Art Deco chandelier and original gate frames visible in the corridors. These historical details remind visitors of its past as a movie palace and remain visible to those walking through today.

The venue can be reconfigured for different types of events, whether sports games, concerts, or other programs. Visitors should check in advance how the space is arranged for their planned event.

The arena has a flexible capacity ranging from 6,000 to 9,000 seats, adjusted depending on the event type. This adaptability allows basketball, hockey, and concert events as well as other programs to take place in the same space.
