Harvard Bridge, Road bridge across Charles River in Back Bay, Boston, United States.
The Harvard Bridge extends 659.82 meters across the Charles River, connecting the neighborhoods of Back Bay in Boston with Cambridge through Massachusetts Avenue.
The construction of the bridge occurred between 1887 and 1891, funded jointly by Boston and Cambridge after extensive legislative discussions regarding its implementation.
The bridge received its name in recognition of Reverend John Harvard, while Massachusetts Institute of Technology students frequently traverse this connection to their campus.
The structure accommodates approximately 49,000 vehicles daily and includes dedicated bicycle lanes connecting to Boston's broader cycling infrastructure system.
Students marked the bridge's length using Oliver Smoot as a measurement unit in 1958, creating permanent markers that remain visible along the walkway.
