Boston Citgo sign, Commercial neon sign in Kenmore Square, Boston, US.
The white square Citgo sign measures 60 feet on each side and features a red triangular logo with LED lights visible across the city.
Initially installed as a Cities Service sign in 1940, the structure transformed into the current Citgo design during a corporate rebranding in 1965.
The illuminated sign appears in Red Sox game broadcasts at Fenway Park and guides runners during the final stretch of the Boston Marathon.
The sign operates with energy-efficient LED lights installed in 2005, replacing the previous neon system and reducing maintenance requirements.
During the 1979 energy crisis, the sign went dark for three years until public protests convinced authorities to restore its illumination.
