Trinity College, Liberal arts college in Hartford, United States
Trinity College is a liberal arts college in Hartford, Connecticut, spreading over 100 acres and designed with Gothic Revival brick buildings from the 19th century. The central part of the campus displays a long row of interconnected structures in dark stone that house classrooms, residences and administrative offices.
The institution was founded in 1823 as Washington College and moved in 1872 from its original site on College Hill to the current location on Gallows Hill. Architect William Burges designed the central Gothic Revival structures that shaped the architectural character of the institution.
The name of this place refers to the Christian idea of the Trinity, reflecting the religious roots of the institution. Students gather on the paved walkway between historic buildings, where conversations and meetings shape the daily rhythm of campus life.
The campus is open to visitors during the day, with main areas accessible on foot and pathways between buildings clearly marked. It is advisable to plan a walk in the morning or early afternoon when academic buildings are in use and the grounds feel more lively.
The institution operates a second campus in Rome, offering students the opportunity to spend a semester in Italy. It also runs a shared education facility in Córdoba with six other institutions, providing courses in Spanish language and culture.
