Boxhill, Georgian Revival house in Glenview, US.

Boxhill is a Georgian Revival house in Glenview constructed for an industrial magnate. The residence features a two-story entrance hall with marble floors, curved staircase, multiple libraries with cherry wood paneling, and formal gardens with tree-lined pathways designed to enhance the property.

The property was constructed between 1906 and 1910 for the president of a cooperage company, showcasing industrial wealth through its design. The prominent Boston architect Joseph E. Chandler designed the structure while landscape architect Bryant Fleming created the formal gardens.

The home reflects the tastes of early 20th-century industrial wealth, with formal gardens and tree-lined pathways that visitors can walk through and experience. The design choices show how successful business owners of that era wanted their residences to display both power and refinement.

The property spans seven acres, giving visitors plenty of space to explore both the residence and surrounding gardens. Plan to spend time both inside and outside, as the formal grounds are designed for walking and viewing the landscape details.

The house sat vacant for several years after experiencing a tragedy in the 1970s before a contractor purchased it and undertook major restoration work. The recovery process transformed the property from abandonment back into a maintained historic residence.
