Pratt & Whitney Stadium, American football stadium in East Hartford, United States
Pratt & Whitney Stadium is a sports facility in East Hartford, Connecticut, designed primarily for college football games. The structure rises in a horseshoe shape with seating for around 40,000 people, built from concrete and steel across several tiers.
The site served as part of Rentschler Airfield until the early 2000s, where aircraft engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney conducted test flights starting in 1931. The stadium opened in 2003, replacing the former aviation use.
The University of Connecticut Huskies football team maintains this stadium as their home field, fostering collegiate sports traditions throughout Connecticut.
Wide walkways connect the sections, and visitors find many food stands and accessible restrooms throughout the building. Large parking areas sit right next to the stadium and tend to fill early on game days.
The playing surface still carries the name Rentschler Field even though the entire facility was renamed Pratt & Whitney Stadium in 2015. This split naming honors the long aviation history of the site and its connection to the original airfield.
