Charter Oak Bridge, Highway bridge in Hartford, United States.
The Charter Oak Bridge spans 3,400 feet across the Connecticut River, connecting Hartford with East Hartford through six traffic lanes.
The original bridge from 1942 operated as a toll structure until 1991, when the current free-access bridge replaced the aging infrastructure.
The bridge name carries forward the memory of Connecticut's Charter Oak, an important symbol in the state's early colonial history.
The structure accommodates 79,800 vehicles daily and provides direct access between Interstate 91 and the Wilbur Cross Highway system.
The Charter Oak Landing park incorporates preserved elements from the original bridge structure as an entrance gateway for visitors.
