James S. Brady Press Briefing Room, Press briefing room in the White House
The James S. Brady Press Briefing Room is a small theater in the West Wing of the White House where the White House Press Secretary gives briefings to the news media.
Named after James Brady, the former press secretary who was shot during an attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981.
It has been the primary location for many significant announcements and press conferences in American history.
The room seats about 49 reporters, each assigned a seat by the White House Correspondents' Association.
Despite its small size, it's one of the most televised locations in the White House.
