Abington Senior High School, High school in Abington Township, US
Abington Senior High School sits at 900 Highland Avenue and is a school building listed in the National Register of Historic Places with space for students in grades ten through twelve. The campus spans several acres and includes classroom buildings, athletic facilities, and a large parking area for students and staff.
The building opened in 1964 as the south campus and initially served as one of two locations in the district. In 1983 the organization of the system changed and the school became the sole high school for older students in the community.
The facility was named after Stephen A. Schwarzman, a former student who later became one of the founders of the Blackstone Group. His name now appears on different parts of the building and reminds visitors of the connection between the school and its successful graduates.
The main entrance sits on Highland Avenue and leads directly to the administrative offices on the ground floor. Visitors should check in at the reception desk since the campus is open only to registered guests during school hours.
The campus houses a remarkable number of club sports and extracurricular activities that go beyond the typical offerings. Students can choose from more than one hundred different groups, ranging from robotics to performing arts.
