Bell Rock Memorial Park, Civil War memorial park in Malden, United States.
Bell Rock Memorial Park sits at the intersection of Main, Wigglesworth, Meridian, and Ellis Streets in Malden and covers roughly 3.4 acres of land. The grounds feature curved paths, elevated areas, and several monuments honoring people who served in wars.
This place once held two early Congregational meeting houses, with the first founded in 1649 and the second serving the community from 1660 to 1730. These buildings anchored religious life in the colonial settlement before the park took shape.
The three bronze figures called The Flag Defenders show sailors, soldiers, and Marines standing upright in formation. They were created by sculptor Bela Pratt and represent different military branches coming together.
This park has multiple entry points and is easy to navigate thanks to clearly marked paths throughout the grounds. The elevated terrain may be challenging for visitors with limited mobility.
A bell was hung on a rocky spot in 1658 to call worshippers to services. This simple signal made the location the gathering point for the early colonial community.
