Camp Modin, Summer camp in Belgrade Lakes Region, Maine, United States
Camp Modin is a summer facility located on a private lake in Belgrade Lakes Region that welcomes children aged 7 to 16. The program features more than 70 activities spanning athletics, creative arts, water sports, and outdoor recreation.
The facility was founded in 1922 as the first Jewish summer camp in the United States to operate continuously since its opening. It has maintained consistent operations throughout the decades, surviving major historical periods and economic changes.
The camp maintains kosher dining practices and observes Jewish holidays throughout the summer session. These traditions shape daily routines and community activities for all campers regardless of background.
The summer program runs from late June through mid-August with professional staff overseeing approximately 350 campers. A private waterfront location provides direct access to water-based activities and indoor facilities built throughout the grounds.
The camp features a large recreation center and four tournament-grade boats for water sports instruction and competition. These facilities allow for diverse sailing and rowing programs that take full advantage of the lake setting.
