The museum opened in 1967 through the efforts of Andrew Wyeth to preserve the collection of Christian Sanderson, a local teacher who gathered historical items.
The collection includes original sketches from the Wyeth family of artists, Civil War veterans' letters, and autographs from notable American figures.
The museum welcomes visitors from March through November on Saturdays and Sundays between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., with adult admission at 10 dollars.
Among the museum's artifacts are a fragment of Abraham Lincoln's assassination bandage and Jennie Wade's pocketbook from the Battle of Gettysburg.
