Collings Foundation

The American Heritage Museum at Collings Foundation displays military aircraft, tanks, and vehicles from different eras in a large indoor facility. The collection spans from World War II machines to equipment from modern conflicts.

The foundation began in 1979 and acquired a major private military vehicle collection in 2013. This merger created one of the largest repositories of such equipment in the country.

The foundation invites visitors to learn about transportation history through hands-on experiences, including aircraft performances and guided tours that bring the past to life. People come here to understand how military technology shaped everyday travel and engineering.

Visits are often only available for special events or pre-arranged group tours, so it's best to check ahead before planning a trip. There is also a satellite operation in Houston where jet aircraft are kept.

The museum holds a Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless dive-bomber aircraft that has been restored to flying condition. This plane is one of the best-preserved examples of its type and attracts aviation enthusiasts from around the world.
