American Heritage Museum, Military history museum in Stow, United States
The American Heritage Museum is a military history museum in Stow, Massachusetts, displaying more than 100 historic military vehicles and artifacts. The collection includes tanks, aircraft, and other equipment from different wars, ranging from the Revolutionary War to modern conflicts.
The museum opened in 2018 on the grounds of the Collings Foundation, incorporating the vehicle collection from the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation based in California. The facility was created to preserve military technology and memories of American wartime efforts for future generations.
The museum recreates a First World War trench environment that helps visitors understand the conditions soldiers endured. Other sections display fragments of the Berlin Wall, a railcar from the Holocaust period, and a memorial dedicated to the victims of the September 11 attacks.
The facility is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM and offers tank demonstrations and military vehicle displays throughout the year. Visitors should plan several hours to walk through the entire exhibition space.
The museum offers programs where visitors can drive historical tanks such as the M4 Sherman or M24 Chaffee under the guidance of experienced instructors. This experience allows people to learn firsthand about the mechanics and handling of military vehicles.
