Stow, human settlement in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States of America
Stow is a small town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, set among farmland, forests, and apple orchards. The town has a compact layout with local roads connecting residential areas, a town center, and open green spaces.
Stow was founded in 1683, making it one of the older towns in the region. Over the following centuries, mills along the Assabet River drove local industries such as wool, leather, and hat production.
Stow is known for its apple orchards, which draw visitors every autumn for picking and farm-fresh goods. Local cider and baked treats sold at farm stands are part of how residents and guests experience the town's rural character.
Stow is reached via Routes 117 and 62 and is most comfortably visited by car, as attractions and services are spread across the town. Autumn is a popular time to visit, when orchards and farm stands are at their busiest.
The American Heritage Museum in Stow holds one of the largest collections of military vehicles in North America, with tanks and aircraft from several 20th-century conflicts. Some of the vehicles on display are the only surviving examples of their kind on the continent.
