Constantine Sneed House

The Constantine Sneed House is a two-story brick building set on a dressed limestone foundation with distinctive masonry patterns on its front. The structure displays typical construction methods and proportions from the early 1800s.

The house was built in 1825, decades after the Sneed family received the land in 1798. This gap between land grant and construction shows a long period of land holding before development.

The house reflects how prosperous families organized their living spaces in early 19th-century Tennessee. Visitors can observe the layout of rooms and understand the building choices made during that period.

Visits require advance arrangement with the property owner, as the house does not maintain regular public hours. Planning ahead helps ensure you can see the interior and exterior properly.

The building uses two different bricklaying techniques: a more elaborate pattern on the front and a simpler method on the remaining sides. This difference was a practical choice since the front facade was the most visible part.
