Diggerland, Construction theme park in Kent, Devon, Durham, and Yorkshire, United Kingdom.
Diggerland is a chain of four parks across the United Kingdom where visitors can operate real construction machinery such as excavators, dumpers, and tractors themselves. Each location offers more than 20 different rides and activities where children get behind the controls of these vehicles in specially designed zones.
The first Diggerland park opened in Kent in 2000 and was followed by additional locations in Durham, Devon, and Yorkshire over the following years. This expansion established the first chain of construction machinery theme parks in Britain.
Diggerland reflects British industrial heritage by transforming construction equipment into family entertainment, connecting children with engineering and machinery.
Different rides at each park have height requirements, typically starting at around 90 centimeters for younger children. Plan to spend several hours exploring and trying the various activities, as there is much to experience at each location.
A notable feature is the Dancing Diggers show, where real excavators perform choreographed movements and stunts that showcase the machines' abilities. This performance offers a different perspective on what construction equipment can do beyond standard operations.
