Minor Mosque, Modern religious complex near UzExpoCentre, Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Minor Mosque is a modern prayer house with white marble walls, a turquoise dome, and two 38-meter minarets situated along the Ankhor channel embankment. The circular prayer hall and surrounding terraces contain decorative interior elements and space for religious gatherings.
Construction began in summer 2013 following a presidential resolution and the building was inaugurated in October 2014. The project was part of investments in religious infrastructure in the city during that period.
The interior displays traditional decorative patterns with Quranic texts and inscriptions created by skilled local calligraphers. These handcrafted works reflect a long-standing artisan tradition that remains visible to visitors today.
The building accommodates about 2,400 people in the main hall and on terraces with separate ablution facilities. Visitors should note that prayer times may affect when the space is open for tours or general access.
The white marble walls and dome shift in color tone throughout the day as sunlight hits the surface at different angles. This interplay between light and material is most noticeable in early morning and evening hours.
